If you  suffered a heart attack before or suffering from the disease, you have to take all the necessary measures to prevent the dreaded condition from happening again and be prepared to deal with emergency situations.

Remind patient to take medication - Make sure you take the required amounts and right types of medication every day. Also, you need to record the times when different medications were taken and the resulting side effects, if any.

Maintain a healthy weight - Since a healthy weight can lower the risk of heart attack, you have to keep to your diet and exercise plans. Keep track of your progress.

Check blood pressure regularly - It is essential that you learn how to check your blood pressure and perform checks regularly. A complete record of blood pressure readings can help a cardiologist determine his or her susceptibility to heart attack more accurately.

Read food labels - If you know how to read food labels, you can avoid taking foods that can increase the risk of heart attack, such as those that contain high amounts of fat, cholesterol, or salt.
Keep doctor’s contact information handy - If you can contact the doctor promptly during times of emergency, you will have a greater chance of surviving the disease.

Have relations around you - A heart disease patient should have a relative close should there be any emergency. Never desert your self.
